The Data Science Core is offering a free workshop at the MDI Biological Lab. Please see attached for details and spread the word at your INBRE institutions.


Workshop: Introduction to Workflows and Nextflow Pipelines 

The course covers the basic principles of computational workflows, introduces Nextflow’s DSL2 workflow language, and gives participants hands-on experience launching their own pipelines to analyze real data.

November 16th, 2026 
10 AM - 3 PM 

Schedule:
Morning session: Lecture, Computation Workflow introductions, nextflow resources, real-world examples of data we have processed using nextflow.
Lunch 
Afternoon session: Hands On RNAseq example, pipeline configuration and execution, debugging, downstream analysis.
Hang out after the course for networking and open office hours (in person only)

Support our Marathoners ************************************************** Liz Bergst (and her family) and Noni Guntur will participate in the Chicago Marathon in October 2026 If you’ve been out in the parking lot at 81 Research Drive at the end of the day lately, you might have seen Faculty Scientist Anyonya Guntur and RTE Manager Liz Bergst and a group of running friends heading out into the neighborhood for a training run. Liz and Noni are part of a training team that has run a number of races over the years, and right now they are gearing up for the biggest one yet- the Chicago Marathon coming up this October. It’s the first marathon for both Noni and Liz, and they are running it along with another teammate, and Liz’s husband and daughter.
