Former TUSM Dean, Harris A. Berman, MD, FACP

  ***Sent on Behalf of the Tufts University School of Medicine Leadership Team***      Dear TUSM Community,     We write with the heartbreaking news that Harris A. Berman, MD, FACP, Dean Emeritus at Tufts University School of Medicine, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021, surrounded by his beloved family.      For those who knew about Harris, he was a pioneer for co-founding the Matthew Thornton Health Plan in Nashua, NH, one of the first HMOs in New England. He had a deep commitment to global health stemming from his work as a Peace Corps Physician in India and continued that passion at Tufts where he spearheaded the expansion of the Global Health Program at TUSM, and grew the affiliation between Tufts and Christian Medical College in Vellore, South India. He served as Dean of Tufts University School of Medicine, Professor of Medicine, and Professor of Public Health and Community Medicine. Booster Scheduling now Available

  Care Team members who initially received   Moderna   or   Johnson & Johnson   vaccines can now schedule their boosters.   To schedule a booster appointment,  click here for instructions and a set of Frequently Asked Questions.   In addition to Moderna and J&J boosters, the team will again be offering  Pfizer  boosters to any who need them, and who received their second dose at least six months ago.   Booster clinics will be held in the MMC Dana Center beginning tomorrow, Oct. 27 for eligible MMC, MMP, MaineHealth, NorDx and Maine Behavioral Health care team members working in the greater Portland area. Boosters and Malone Family Tower Updates

  October 25, 2021 Boosters to be Available for Some Care Team Members   Vaccine boosters will be available for health care workers who initially received  Moderna  or  Johnson & Johnson  vaccines beginning this week. Instructions on how to sign up for an appointment will be sent via email to all care team members this week.  If you received a  Moderna  vaccine you are eligible for a booster shot at  six  months or more after your initial series. If you received the  Johnson & Johnson  vaccine, booster shots are also recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated  two  or more months ago.  Click here  for more information on eligibility. Eligible care team members may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type that they originally received and others may prefer to get a different booster.
