  November 30, 2020   Expanded Surveillance Testing at MMC   This message was sent on Nov. 25 by Jeff Sanders, President, Maine Medical Center, and Joel Botler, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Maine Medical Center and President, Maine Medical Partners.   Dear Care Team Members,   We wanted to share an update on the COVID-19 outbreak in CTICU and announce an expansion of our efforts to conduct surveillance testing at Maine Medical Center.   As we shared last week, we started surveillance testing in the cardiothoracic intensive care unit (CTICU) and gradually expanded it to include other areas based on contact tracing as well as CDC guidance. We are continuing surveillance testing of all team members in targeted units related to the identified outbreak of COVID-19 in CTICU.    As of today, MMC reported that surveillance testing among the CTICU and other areas has identified a total of 22 care team members and three patients as positive for COVID-19.
