OUR Place: Impact of Your Donations

OUR Place donations help fund things like career development and educational opportunities for care team members, research opportunities around the fundamentals of care to improve patient outcomes and save lives, and an arts program that places artwork in clinical settings to help support the physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of patients and staff.

Many of our inpatient units and outpatient facilities feature art installations funded by OUR Place contributions. The images of familiar local scenes and landscapes provide a beautiful, welcoming element to help alleviate anxiety, provide comfort and uplift spirits. The Radiology department on MaineHealth Maine Medical Center’s Portland Campus is one of the newest art recipients. In addition to classic scenes depicting the coastline, lakes and mountains of Maine, there are charming photographs of animals such as red foxes, moose, otters and even hummingbirds, which are especially endearing to the children who come to the unit. The artwork has not only enlivened the spaces for patients undergoing stressful tests or treatments but has also brightened the basement work environment for care team members.

There is still time to support initiatives like the Arts Program that make our patients’ and care team’s daily experience a little brighter. Make your OUR Place donation by Friday, June 21 using cash or credit card, through one-time or bi-weekly payroll deduction or by donating PTO hours. Contact Kate Leahy with any questions. Your generosity has a real and direct impact. Thank you for giving back!
