August 29, 2022 MMC Achieves 3 rd Comprehensive Stroke Certification The Joint Commission has certified Maine Medical Center as a Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) for the third time. Offered in collaboration with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, the Joint Commission Comprehensive Stroke Certification means that MMC is dedicated to raising the bar for performance as well as evaluating and evolving the care our patients receive at every touch in the stroke care continuum. This patient-centric approach is better for patients and families. CSC is the highest level of certification for hospitals with specific abilities to receive and treat the most complex stroke cases. CSC distinction is achieved by only 5 percent of hospitals in the nation. Congratulations to all the teams involved whose hard work and high quality patient care has led to this accomplishment!
