MaineHealth Shared Services Directory

Based on feedback shared in a recent leader survey, the office of the COO has created a shared services directory where you can easily find high-level departmental contacts and info in one place. The directory is available on Kelly Elkins’ intranet site, and will be periodically updated throughout the year. While work with system partners will provide a more dynamic directory in the future, this is a valuable resource you can use right now.

Government Affairs Updates

Vote in the Maine Primary Election on June 14!

In two weeks you will have an opportunity to head to the voting booth (or vote by mail!) to vote in the Maine Primary Election!

Think There’s No Reason to Vote?

Don’t assume there is no reason to vote on June 14. Many races for the State Legislature are contested (Portland, Westbrook, Sanford, Boothbay, Paris, and the list goes on!), which means more than one person is running to represent the same party in the November election. You will also have local races to consider, including town or city council, validating your school budget, District Attorney, etc. These local races can have as big an impact on your everyday life as the headline-grabbing national races!

Not Registered to Vote? You can Register on Election Day!

You can register in person on Election Day at your polling place. You can also fill out this voter registration form, print and mail it to your municipal registrar or mail it the Division of Elections (#101 State House Station, Augusta, ME 04333).

Not sure where your polling place is?

Click here to access the State of Maine Voter Information Lookup Service.

Want to Vote by Mail?

To request your absentee ballot (vote by mail), please use the Maine Secretary of State’s Online Absentee Ballot Request Service. Any registered voter may request an absentee ballot. Absentee ballots must be returned to your municipal clerk by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Municipal clerks have already started to send ballots to voters who have requested them.

MaineHealth encourages all employees to exercise your civic duty and vote! For more information, please contact Sarah Calder.

Live in New Hampshire?

You have time! New Hampshire’s Primary is September 13. Click here to learn more about voting in New Hampshire.

Building Healthy Communities

Mental Health Awareness Month: Continue the Conversation

https://comms.mainehealth.org/PoliteMail/images/MentalHealthMonth-graphic.jpgIn a recent OpEd, Maine Behavioral Healthcare President, Kelly Barton, drew attention to the fact that the pandemic has “exacerbated a preexisting and pervasive health condition in our society… According to the National Institute of Mental Health, nearly 1 in every 5 people – that’s 53 million people in America – has a diagnosable mental health condition. This 20 percent of our population cuts across geography, income, politics, race and religion, and it includes our mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, colleagues, friends and neighbors.”

According to SAMHSA only 54.9% of adults with mental illness in Maine receive any form of treatment from either the public system or private providers. The remaining 45.1% receive no mental health treatment. This month – and beyond –  help us make mental health a priority. Ask for help, accept help and offer help. Get started with these resources:

· Dive into the conversation. Read the full article written by Kelly Barton (quoted above)

· Check out the Employee Wellness Page for some great resources (including our new tool, Talkspace) to support your well-being

· Visit mainehealth.org/mentalhealth for additional information on how to prioritize mental health

MaineHealth strives to work together so Maine and New Hampshire communities are some of the healthiest in America by providing compassionate and inclusive care. Guided by this vision, we celebrate our LGBTQ+ care team members, patients and clients, and commit to creating a culture of belonging where everyone feels embraced and accepted as their authentic selves. Information Technology

New, Easy Way to Request Help from IT and HR – Starting June 4

https://comms.mainehealth.org/PoliteMail/images/SN%20landing.jpgStarting June 4, self-service requests for assistance from Information Technology and Human Resources will be managed with a new, easy-to-use tool.

What will be different?

When you click on the Lifesaver or Ask HR icons on your computer desktop, you’ll be taken to a new page (image at right) from which you can submit an incident or a request. It may look a little different, but the team members behind the scenes are working to support you with the same service you’ve always relied on. And the new layout makes it even easier for you to make a request, find the info you need, or get your question answered.

What will stay the same?

You can still call the IT Help Desk (207) 662-6400 or the HR Solution Center (207) 661-4000 with questions. Your Lifesaver and Ask HR icons will stay on your desktop and will automatically direct you to the new service portal.
