Introducing MaineHealth Institute for Research - message from Liz Jacobs

Sent on behalf of Liz Jacobs, MD

Dear Colleagues,

As you know we have been preparing to change our name to MaineHealth Institute for Research for the past several months and will be officially announcing this change starting June 1.  We have several communication efforts planned: an announcement I will be making tomorrow at the OpEx Daily Huddle, an article in MaineHealth News, and a press release to name a few.  Mark your calendars for June 8 where we will have a cupcake and ice cream truck from 1-3 pm to celebrate and raffle items from the Wellness Committee (more details on this celebration to come). Also, be sure to tune into Andy’s Open Door on June 15, when Doug Sawyer will be talking about Academic Affairs as well as Research’s name transition.

During the months of June and July, you will see this name change reflected in such places as exterior signs, staff badges, public and internal communications, as well legal and compliance forms.

I want to thank the work groups from various areas throughout the institute that have been working to make this name transition happen, members from our staff include: Gerard Auguste, Emily Berg, Elizabeth Campbell, Amy Caron, Karen Corts, Kelly Crowe, Joe Fish, Carolyn Elliot-Farino, Brian Lynn, Julianna Myers, Colleen O’Neill, Kneka Smith, Stephanie Stephens and Tony St. Peter.  In addition, I would like to thank MH colleagues from outside our teams that worked on this project: Karen Barlow, Caroline Cornish, Brian Curely, Geoffrey Fallon, and Janet Thompson. During this transition if you have any questions you can contact Amy Caron or Julianna Myers.  Communication resources for the name change (power point template, communications guidelines, etc.) can be found on this page on our intranet site (in MHIR Staff Resources>FAQs & Resource Documents).

I am excited to see this come together as our new name conveys so much better what we do as an institution — serving the entire system and research throughout MaineHealth.

With gratitude,

Liz
