About this Event

In Portland's culturally rich environment, the ability to understand, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across many cultures is an essential skill. Cultural distinctions can divide us or we can allow them to unite us. In this one-hour interactive class, Mandy Levine will share her experiences in the diversity and inclusion field where cultural distinctions have ultimately led to greater connection, understanding, and celebration of difference.
About the Speaker:
Mandy Levine is the City of Portland’s Workforce Diversity and Inclusion Specialist, serving as the City’s primary point person on employment-related diversity and inclusion initiatives. Mandy is the City of Portland’s principal investigator of alleged violations of anti-harassment and anti-discrimination laws and policies. She routinely delivers trainings to the City of Portland employees on multiple diversity-and inclusion-related matters. Mandy additionally serves as the City of Portland’s ADA Title II Coordinator and coordinates language access services. She also collaborates with community groups underrepresented in the City workforce to increase minority and veteran representation.
Before Mandy joined the City of Portland in April 2017, she spent four years as an HR Business Partner at Maine Medical Center. Before that, Mandy spent several years practicing employment law at law firms in Boston and Burlington, Vermont, where she supported small and large corporate clients on state and federal employment-related laws. Mandy also spent two years as the Assistant Director of Civil Rights at the New England regional office of the Anti-Defamation League in Boston, where she advocated on behalf of victims of hate and bias incidents and crimes.
Mandy received her Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College in Vermont and her law degree from Boston College Law School.
